For two black lines, on white paper, intersecting at 90 degrees I wish to remove a portion of the horizontal line on one side of the vertical line. With an earlier version of CorelDraw I could place a rectangle next to the vertical line, fill it with color (white) to cover that portion of the line, and hit Delete which would delete the rectangle but leave the fill so no line would show in that area. How can I remove a portion of a line in CorelDraw X5?

Even if the program received updates, the functionality hasn't changed much. In this matter, you can try the same process to cut portions of you lines. You should be able to accomplish this in the same manner as before even if you are using a newer versions of the product. Also, I suggest that you visit the following support website. On there, the developer posted several tutorial videos that will help you learn more about the new version's features.
